I guess the original message of the DS from the 90s was we have to be responsible with caring for the environment because future generations will suffer the consequences of our actions. Comparing with others D&D has been a relatively ideologically neutral, and I would rather this to be like this. Now we are in 2025, and the point of view may be different, for example somebody warns we should take care with the "false prophets" of the ecology who reclaim absolute control by the state with the excuse to save the planet. Other point was "the world sucks and a lot of things has to be fixed, but if we work together we have an opportunity to create a better future for the next generations".

Other idea for possible spin-off is the defilers from the Athaspace discovered a planar gate toward two alternate Krynns. One where Raistlin defeated the gods and caused the end of the civilitation, and other there the deities were defeated by the king-priest of Ishtar like in the short story “There is Another Shore You Know, Upon the Other Side” (from the antology "the dragons of chaos").
Now I am thinking the champions of Rajaat rebeled against this when these discovered his true plan. What if the SKs discovered the truth thanks a time-traveler from the future where there is a new blue age but all no-halflings were terminated?
* How would be if defilers arrived to a world with a plant-zombie apocalypse style "the last of us"? * Other idea is paraelemental clay clerics creating "ectoplasm" to heal zones that were "sterelized" by defiling magic. Really it would be more like adding a new layer over the previous. Maybe it only would help for plants with "short" roots because it would be better than nothing. * And what about "solar sails" by magitek or biopunk-tech? they would work like solar farms, or a magic version of ancient Persian windmills. Maybe the ancient rushtili invented something like the Halladay windmill for their ships to not depend so much on the direction of the wind
