D&D 4E Dungeons of Dread 4E spoilers

I just acquired a Desert of Desolation minis poster and haven't seen this mentioned, so here goes:

In the bottom right corner is the 'Coming Soon!' spot for Dungeons of Dread. It shows the three box covers. the boxes appear to be shorter yet wider. The art is gorgeous and depicts:
1) a Death Knight or Vampire in plate with a big red sword
2) A Beholder (much like the preview art) with 10 eyestalks
3) A minotaur with chainmail on his back and a studded leather skirt with an axe in one hand.
Inference 1: maybe they are the new PC race!
Inference 2: from the art, I suspect the minis are too big to make as PC figures.

Neat. The boxes are getting a new shape also. Store owners may not like that. Can't stack them anymore.....

Thankyou for the info....

That's a great link, thanks!
BTW, that beholder on the booster is a seriously creepy image, because all the eyes are staring at you at once.

Very strange (and creepy, esp. if you consider what target all eyes have at once), since the beholder usually stares in many directions at once. I seriously like that, though that's more a kudos to the artist than everything else!

Cheers, LT.

I don't purchase minis or know much about them, so I'm just asking a possibly stupid question here, but would WotC package what's supposed to be a PC in with a bunch of montsters?

And regardless of how that question is answered, that minotaur doesn't say "Heroic PC!" to me. He's all hunched over and gnarly. IOW, he looks pretty much like a 3E Minotaur.

As much as I hate it, and I'll never use them, I really think it's going to be orcs for the new race. The Orc King is a pretty heavy hint of that. Either orcs or an entirely new race, as Shifters were new to Eberron. But most likely orcs.

Minis sets have both monsters and PCs included at random. Usually, there are 60 figures in a set, with each box having 8 minis (of the 60) randomly selected.
