Message: <blockquote data-quote="TwistedBishop" data-source="post: 2610458" data-attributes="member: 12503">I think it's a great choice of actors.  One of the longest running complaints about Venom is how little resonance there is between Brock and Parker.  There was always the potential there to show a real Dark Spiderman, instead of just some brute in a spideysuit, which would have resulted in a much more compelling story.  I imagine a large part of casting Grace was due specifically to how much he looks like Maguire, to facilitate that.Looking at Spiderman 1 & 2, you definitely see the same pattern of villains there.  Each one is like Peter Parker in some fundamental way, providing sharp contrast for his heroics.  I don't know much about Sandman, but I can't imagine that same kind of connection for his character.     I was very worried when they announced him actually, since it looked like they were dipping into the junk villains so soon.  Spiderman has some great iconic bad guys, but only a few of them before you quickly sink into lunacy.  I mean...The Vulture?!?Like someone else mentioned, I think Sandman would be better off as a prolonged introductory battle to the film, then quickly move into Venom/Hobgoblin.</blockquote>
