Duskblade w/ Arcane Devotion

Hi all,

I was wondering what people thought of the feasibility of a duskblade abusing the arcane devotion feat was. As I see it it would add a couple spells to the class list, and enable healing/protective magic to a primarily offensive list. And although you wouldn't get the new spells very often, you could use wands that contained them (added to your class list=wandable, afaik). So maybe add the domain spells for healing and protection, to make a psuedo-paladin character, with significant casting at early levels. Incidentally, this is for a 3rd level campaign, probably with a human.

Are there other feats which would more significantly enhance a duskblade? In particular, a duskblade who is trying to remain a generalist with regards to weapon and shield choice? I was thinking dodge/mobility/spring attack might be valuable, particularly as the character is slightly low on the AC scale. Or maybe some of the sudden metamagic feats? Others I'm overlooking?

Finally, is a duskblades caster level = class level? I assume so, but didn't see it written somewhere.

Thanks!

Arcane Devotion? Did you mean Arcane Disciple in complete divine?
If so... you'll have to keep you WIS at respectable levels as well as all your other necessary abilities for the Duskblade.
And as a Duskblade, you still only get to choose one new spell to learn per level... the feat adds to the list of available spells to choose from, not to the list of spells already known.

ohh... and yes your caster level equals your Duskblade level.

Ah, I did mean arcane disciple, and those are excellent points. I'd been assuming that you automatically knew those spells if you took arcane disciple, not just you got to choose from them. That makes arcane disciple considerably less interesting, given the extremely limited spell selection anyway for duskblades.

Thanks!

I'd still consider it. The ability to heal yourself is REALLY nice for a front-line type. Even a cure light wounds spell at the right time is handy, and the ability to use a CLW wand is maybe even more important.

Do you mean "extremely limited" spell list that the book says is on page 98... or the real spell list on page 24?

Yeah, I think he meant "extremely limited" number of Spells Known for the duskblade.

Somewhat off topic, but did the Spell Compendium add any spells to the duskblade's spell list?

No, the Duskblade is newer, and doesn't need any more spells, it's good enough as is.

Nope since it came out before the PHB II which had the duskblade.
