How about this....it turns out there are some really nice people out there. A few years ago I bought into the pitch from Apple computers and I switched. A few months later after being totally disenchanted with my decision, I switched back. It was time to sell my iBook on eBay and I got a pretty good deal on it. $950 from a guy in Texas. Considering the amount of the bid, we talked on the phone and decided that a COD was the best way to fly. Soooooo off I go to Mailboxes Etc. the next day to get the laptop professionally boxed and shipped. I got everything done, paid for the shipping and left the store. After I got a few miles down the road I made a horible, stomp on the breakes realization.... I FORGOT TO SET UP THE C.O.D.!!!!!! In other words, I just shipped off a grand worth of computer stuff to a guy in Texas with ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of insuring that he would ever pay for it. I called the guy back on the spot (had his number on my cell phone) and talked to his wife. She had a good laugh and said no problem. Once it arrives she will send me a check. True to her word, after a week of sweating the check arrived for the full agreed to price. It turns out that this guy was taken the month before by a seller in California who sold a new hundred iBook to people al over the place and pocketed the money. First try and he gets stiffed. Second try and I send him a notebook for free. Go figure. There are a lot of good people out there, and this little story proves it. Then again, there are some total wanks out there and I usually have to drive behind them on the way to work.
