Ishmael reborn [sblock] The journey to the temple wears the Deep Halfling ragged, even with the comfort of Percy and Courage's presence. He is lost in the malaise of both the ancient curse and his sorcerous bloodline. His entrance was expected by the acolytes, though they stared at his staggering steps. Ishmael trembles visibly before handing over the purse of 150gp for donation. The Deep Halfling willingly submits to the mercies of Hyrag's disciples. He cannot hear what they say above the ache in his head. He only follows until he is head toward a Man wearing the robes of a high priest. Oh Lightbringer, let thy radiance fall upon me and purify me he prays as he sinks to his knees. His golden slitted eyes close as the throbbing in his head strengthens to an unbearable pitch. There are pains upon me, Deathslayer. Burn them away with your grace The High Priest, uttering prayers that Ishmael couldn't hear, steps forth and touches the stricken Deep Halfling upon the center of his forehead... upon the scar that closed so long ago but pained him still. "Be Cleansed" There is fire in his touch, a burning raging inferno of agony that wracked the Deep Halfling's soul. Ishmael fell writhing to the temple floor whilst the priests watched vigilantly. The ancient curse is indeed incinerated by the purity of the Lightbringer's magicks. But there are other effects as well. All light, after all, casts a shadow. The divine magicks burn through the gates that held the darkness of Ishmael's soul. Unbeknownst to all who saw Ishmael, seals are unleashed and a seed fed by hatred and wrath begins to fester within the Paladin... and manifests upon his flesh. A legacy from long ago is unchained. Those upon the scene watch horrified as Ishmael's convulsions made him tear at his own skin. His fingers rent his flesh in oddly bloodless tears. Beneath is a new set of skin, pink in some places like a sunburn. In the days to come, this flesh would harden and in some lights, shine in tiny iridescent scales. The High Priests bids all to stay their hands, to watch the transformation unfold. Ishmael's agony comes to a crescendo where it began: the middle of his forehead, where he was touched... where he fell while fighting the Redcap. His flesh is split by the emergence of a jutting horn that pointed upwards. Where once lay a Paladin, there now stretched a sleeping monster. "It has a horn like a Demon!" whispers one of the acolytes. "No! A Unicorn!" "You are wrong" The high priest speaks calmly. "Those are a Dragon's horns" [/sblock] OOG: Ishmael has also been approved. Also, added some flavour text regarding the removal of the curse. I hope no one minds.
