FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 13 Kingdoms Collaborative Campaign Setting Available as Free Download
New d20 fantasy RPG setting enables unique approach to gaming, allowing Dungeon Masters and players to adventure the way they want, when they want, for online and traditional face-to-face games
December 16, 2002 - The 13 Kingdoms (T13K) collaborative campaign setting is now available as a free download. Currently approaching finalization, in T13K players and Dungeon Masters (DMs) game together for any length of time - session, adventure, or entire campaign. Available at the temporary site, www.avidgamers.com/RTOTG, T13K facilitates gaming groups of any style or alignment. The adventures of the various groups choosing to participate will impact one another, and have the potential to greatly affect the ongoing events of the world. T13K has a progressing timeline, which the DMs and players help form.
T13K creative founder "Reckless" commented, "The T13K project leaders have leveraged their combined experience with other, less satisfying community- and organization-driven gaming projects to create a system that ensures a character from one DM's campaign can easily integrate into the campaign of another DM. The goal of having no paperwork load is a key requirement for any attempt at such a dynamic gaming environment. Best of all, we've developed a community gaming experience with all the strengths and none of the weaknesses of both the "living"-style campaign and the traditional Face-To-Face campaign play. The RPG community can benefit greatly from community-driven projects such as this."
T13K brings together the creative ideas and designs of many DMs for others to enjoy - a process of over seven months of close collaboration. The system was created from the ground up to be equally at home with online gaming via virtual tabletop software, and the more traditional face-to-face gaming environment.
The only record keeping required beyond the standard maintenance of character information is a simple and fast review by the new and old DM for any character that is transferring between adventuring parties. T13K introduces new options for DMs and players, from races to Feats and more, in an easily accessible format.
About T13K
The 13 Kingdoms collaborative campaign setting was started in April of 2002 by several of the most talented and creative DMs involved in early attempts at online campaigns. The founders recognized the need for a unique setting that avoided the cumbersome record-keeping and limited options for adventure and group selection inherent in other online campaign environments, and incorporated a dynamic, progressive timeline that allows the actions of its players to become incorporated into the developing history of the campaign setting. Additional information can be found at the temporary setting Web site (www.avidgamers.com/RTOTG).
