Earthdawn Pathfinder book

Hm. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen this earlier - Earthdawn is a perfect fit for an OGL game (or, to be honest, a 4e Game - Earthdawn and 4E rules sync up in a lot of places).

Whether or not it will work remains to be seen. To me, part of the charm of earthdawn is the focus on a character's background story and heroic progression, which isn't quite covered in the various forms of D&D. If the conversion handles that, all will be hunky dorey; if it just provides XP values for specific earthdawn monsters and a simplified magic system... I'll pass.

I remember rumors a couple years ago that it was going to be a 4e adaptation but then they went with another update of the FASA rule set. The high powered martial classes seemed a good fit for the 4e game paradigm.

If they can make the martial type classes as fantastic in Pathfinder it will be very interesting.

I adapted a bunch of Earthdawn 1e stuff to AD&D2e years ago and in my 2e Ravenloft game the party even got a True Name ritual and some blood magic from Baba Yaga. Many of the Earthdawn concepts are pretty fantastic regardless of what system you use.

is there a dead tree version? What about a DM's/setting book?

Mike

Yes! Dead tree will be available toward the end of the month. The Game Master's Guide will be available for pre-order within a couple of weeks (maybe a little sooner), and the dead tree will be available in the middle or toward the end of May.

Following soon after will be the Parlainth Campaign Sourcebook, as well as the start of a 6-part Parlainth Adventure Campaign which will take players from 1st to around 13th to 15th level and is set in and around Parlainth. The first title of this Adventure Campaign is Relics of the Forgotten City.

(Note that all of these releases are being released at the same time for Savage Worlds as well.)
