I found Tordek the dwarven fighter in the sample adventurers, and Lidda the Halfling Rogue..

Anyone else found something?

Not an exactly an easter egg, nor unknown to most, but there is a dedication to Gary Gygax on the first page.

And also interestingly, they mention original D&D designers responsible for previous editions, including 3E designers like Monte Cook or Gygax "partner in crime" at the dawn of time D&D, Dave Arneson.

Redgar's been petrified by a Medusa and gotten his chest blown out by Drow.

how about the spread picture in chapter 1 how to play in the PHB, the rogue is definetly a homage to Lidda and the fighter is one to Redgar, also on the fighter's armor old carrot nosed trolls maybe?

heh

Big Damn Movie?

I was trying to figure out what that had to do with Brian Doyle Murray.

Besides, "Leaf on the Wind" makes me think of Wash in Serenity.

My Google-fu tells me that BDM is an acronym for the Big Damn Movie (i.e., Serenity). Ergo, it is a reference to Wash.

Regdar turned to stone in the female medusa image is from a 3E adventure (Journey to the Sinister Spire or something like that?), so does that really count?
