Can I suggest not making the thing a face hugger. That's too steriotypical of aliens. As a player I don't want to immediately say, "Oh I know this thing is just like aliens!" That intuitively lets them know what is in store. Since I'm not familiar with the Kythons, I can't comment on whether they suffer the same problem. If they look like aliens then avoid them. Do something related to a mind flayer. Say a cross between and intellect devourer and mind flayer. Picture a brain with four legs and feeding tenticles. It will obviously not be something they've seen before. Have the creature use some mild psionic attacks on the players to trump up the story. It is Eberron after all. Then when it strikes have it attach to the top of the skull, not the face. Play up the mind flayer aspect and convince the players it's trying to feed on their brain and not implant an egg. Perhaps they suffer an intelligence penalty after the feeding attempt. Later in the game.....blamo creature jumping out of players chest. For simplicity sake if you want to use the stats of another creature like the kython to make less work then go for it. Just don't make it too much of a rip off of aliens. Put a spin to it to keep the players thinking. I like the Venom aspect of things and think that sounds really cool. You could have the player make will checks to prevent it from making him do abnormal things like bite of a rats head, eat blood, etc. But don't tell him why he's compelled to do certain things. Throw in a "magic item" that looks particularly evil to make them thinks that's causing the mischief. The mine shaft with the last victim is awesome. Have fun.
