Hommlet/Inn of the Welcome Wench 25 Goodmonth 7:47 AM Round 0 Emmyr was up at dawn with the servants of the inn as they prepared the common room for the day. The dwarf forlornly studied the small stash of coins they had remaining. They could pay the innkeeper at the end of their week, but would have little else after. Tucking the purse away, Emmyr thought maybe he would keep an eye open to -- discretely -- acquire some funds for them while they stayed. He sipped from his flask of ale -- what good dwarf didn’t have a good, stiff drink first thing in the morning? -- and waited by the fire for the Lady Rebekah to rise. She found him standing sentry in the hallway outside her room when she emerged in the morning, and he carried down her request for a private breakfast room to the inn staff, then stood about making sure they got everything just right. The meal was delicious, and expansive, and hopefully not more than they could afford, the frugal dwarf thought with concern. Of course, he would never to deign to sit at table with a lady, so he stood at the door awaiting Lady Rebekah’s pleasure as she ate, trying not to let his own stomach rumble too much. He would grab a bit of whatever was left after the others were finished. With the scream from outside the room, Emmyr lifted his axes from his belt and opened the door. He preceded Lady Rebekah from the room for her safety when she went to investigate the commotion. It turned out Templeton and Hexeiros had shown up. “Shall I throw them out, milady?” Emmyr asked Lady Rebekah, eying Hexeiros and Templeton -- and trying not to smell the ratcatcher. They may have been comrades-in-arms yesterday, but they still were relative strangers. Zanword and the innkeeper managed to calm everyone, and Hexeiros and Templeton joined them in the private room. Emmyr scowled in disgust as Templeton plopped down and began piling food. That smelly bastard had best leave some for a dwarf! Spotting Lady Rebekah’s discomfort, Emmyr opened the door and called over one of the wenches. They had a conversation in hushed tones, he handed her a bit of coin, and then the young woman left. She returned a few moments later for another conversation and handed Emmyr something. Emmyr walked over behind Lady Rebekah. “Milady,” he said gruffly, slipping something into her hand beneath the table. It was soft, silky, and proved to be a nice, small perfumed silk sachet filled with fragrant herbs and dried flowers, designed to be settle in a young woman’s bodice to give off its pleasant fragrance, or kept in a clothes chest with finer gowns.
