ECL for Feats

Something my group wants to be able to do, is get more feats. This would be done by "training."

For instance, if someone wanted to deflect arrows feat, and they go and train with some guy who already has it, they should be able to learn the feat.

We all also agree this could screw up CR and ECL, but they would be willing to take a penalty to their ECL/CR.

So my question, is if someone has an extra 3 feats or whatever, due to their intensive training, what would the modifier be?

This is kinda irky as it really depends on the feats involved. See the 'wishing for feats' arguements on the rules board, for example.

IMO, though, four at the lowest.

Going by the class generators, d12 hp, full saves, fighter BAB and 8 skill points per level are just fine with no other special abilities to bother things with.

Roughly, the equivelant of six feats (two for averaging six HP for toughness, one for the saves, one epic feat for the BAB up, and 2 for 8 bonuses in skills. Keep in mind since most of this stuff acts as prereqs for various things, these are actually cooler).

So, I'd say six per ECL. Yes, it's a lot. But definately no less than four per.

That sounds good. We are actually going to do 3 things:

Allow characters to train in specific skills and get a bonus.
Allow characters to train for feats.
Allow characters to train for ability score bonuses.

Every 4th increase will add 1 ECL to the character.

So you could be a 10th level fighter, but also have intensive training that gives you +2 ECL.

This just allows for more variety.

Thanks for the input.
