If a PC is a monster with classes, how is his level determined for level-dependent spells (and other stuff).

Example:

Skullcrusher Ogre with ECL+3, includes 8d8 racial HD. Add 4 levels of Fighter.

Does this character get treated as a 4th level (base), 7th level (ECL) or 12th level creature against a level-dependent spell, like Blasphemy?

Thanks!

First, the Skullcrusher Ogre has a LA of +3, not an ECL of +3. That's "Level Adjustment" not "Effective Character Level." ECL is LA + HD where HD is racial HD + level HD.

That means the character is 4th level and has an ECL of 15.

Secondly, Blasphemy is dependent on HD. So the character is treated as a 12 HD character (racial HD + level HD).

As a general rule, you're going to find spells that are dependent on HD, like this, rather than level.

Well, the spell says HD, so I'd assume racial HD plus class levels, so in this case 8+4=12.

...and that's just one more reason to avoid races with a LA. As if you needed one more. :)
