[ELH] Mace of Ruin

First Post
As I was reading the ELH, I noticed that the Mace of Ruin deals extra damage on a critical hit to constructs "as if they were living creatures."

The question I had was whether or not this would allow a rogue to deal sneak attack damage to a golem.

Basically, it comes down to whether or not golems are un-sneakable because they are constructs or because they are not subject to critical hits.

The description of a Construct in MM (pg5) makes no mention to being immune to sneak attacks, just critical hits. Also, under sneak attack in the PHB (pg47) is specifically says that any creature immune to critical hits cannot be sneak attacked. THerefore, I believe that if the magical item allows you to critical a construct, then it allows you to sneak attack one as well.

You can only sneak attack an opponent with a discernable anatomy, which golems don't have. The mace does nothing to change this. Therefore, it does not let you sneak attack golems. Simple enough.

It's a special property of the weapon, and no discernable anatomy, so no. Also, that would mean that dirty fighting would have no additional effect.

Now, put that mace in the hands of someone with devestating critical, and thoses golems are in trouble.
