I received the Elmore Character Clip Art & Color Customizing Studio in the mail today. It is very cool. 96 pages of excellent character portraits (200+ drawings), plus a CD with them on it in TIFF format.

Excellent product. :)

EDIT: Removed point on OGL non-compliance as I was wrong.

A WONDERFUL product. I look forward to using bits and pieces in my next electronic product. I've always wanted Elmore to work for me. ;)

Not at all in compliance with the OGL, as it attempts to offer more restrictive terms of use on stuff that it designates as OGC (e.g., you have to leave "Elmore" on stuff unless you alter it more than 20% - feel free to ignore that since that restriction is in violation of the OGL which states that you may make no restrictions on OGC use beyond those already in the OGL).
Actually, it says right at the beginning that the images are product identity and not OGC. So, you should probably leave "Elmore" on everything.

You are right - so they are.

Which leaves us with a 96-page book, published under the OGL and d20STL in which - let's see - there are 91 pages of images that are designated as Product Identity... plus one page of OGL, which is not Open Game Content. That leaves me with... let's see.. 96 minus 91 is 5 minus 1 is 4... 4 pages of OGC out of 96.

4/96 = 0.041666...

That's 4.2% OGC.

The d20STL specifically requires a minimum of 5% OGC. 4.2% is less than 5%.

So it appears while they ARE OGL-compliant, they *aren't* d20STL compliant. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

{rant} Dammit, people, quit trying to be niggardly with your OGC! Don't see how close to 5% you can come! Don't close the names of your spells and creatures! If you want to be part of the Open Gaming Movement, make your stuff TRULY Open to a large degree! Instead of shooting for 5%, shoot for 100%. Sheesh!{/rant}

This is wrong. The OGL itself is OGC - in fact, it's declared as such in the section 15 of *every* OGL I've ever seen.

Let's see... 5/96 ~ 5.2%.

Plus, if I remember correctly, the license says 5% of the *text* of the covered product must be OGC. 100% of the text in this book is OGC.
