Since the 4th Edition of the Dungeons and Dragons™ was released in June of this year, our 3E products have pretty much ceased to sell. Aside from our free offering of Combat Options: Improvised Weapons and the occasional sale of a various $2 product such as Character Options: Attribute Feats, our sales have been few, if any. Now with the upcoming deadline for removing all d20 markers to convert all 3E products to OGL, I have come to a decision. Effective December 31, 2008, Emerald Press PDF Publishing will no longer sell 3E products aside from the Treasure Hunter series, the Book of Alignment, and any future contributions which may come down the road. There are two reasons for this decision: one, the work involved to crack open each of these original files and remove references to any d20 compliance text, logos, and so forth when no one has any interest to purchase them any more seems mute; and second, because many of the original layout files were completed by other former staff members long ago who cannot be reached. While great effort can be made to accommodate for the last point, the first point makes all the work seem less rewarding. We will continue to support the Treasure Hunter line as future products are still in the works using the current model of d20 Modern and the Book of Alignment is already adapted to OGL. Plans are underway to convert Campaign Options: Mazes for 4E and I am open to any others being converted for the new version as well. As a last hurrah for those PDFs being cancelled, I will offer one or two of them free for one week on all OBS sites before canceling them for good. For example, Campaign Options: Mazes will be listed as free for this first week (November 3-9) and then will be removed from our catalogue as of November 10th. The following week, a new PDF will be listed as free and then delisted. For those of you who have supported our 3E efforts over the last five years, we thank you for your patronage and hope that those of you turned to 4E will look forward to our upcoming products, such as The Key of the Fey mercenary adventure due to early 2009. Should you wish to obtain a copy of any delisted 3E PDF, feel free to contact me through these boards or by email (warden@knight.net) and I will be happy to provide you with a free copy. A Special Note for Contributors To those people who helped put these products together, I want to thank you for your dedication and involvement. While it’s sad to see some of your first products go off the shelf, all good things must come to an end. If any of you wish to take your products and find a new publisher to carry them, please do but bear in mind that the original layout files are lost. Once each product has been delisted, you are free from your contracts and can pursue new endeavors however you wish. Once again, thanks to everyone and I look forward to working with all of you again in the future.
