Empowered Summoning

I was just wondering...
When using a creature summoning spell (e.g. summon nature's ally III) to get multiple creatures from a lower level summoning spell (e.g. 1d3 creatures from the summon nature's ally II list), is it possible to empower the spell in order to get 1d3+50% creatures?

Sure.

Yip. If you summon 1d3+50%, you get 1-4, while if you summon 1d4+1 (2-5), you can summon 3-7.

It isn't really worth it, though, unless you can empower it 'for free' (metamagic rod or Sudden Empower, for example).

My conjurer PC has learned Sudden Maximize partially to use with summon spells.

It'll take 2 rounds if you're spontaneously cast SNA though. Might not be worth it.
