EMPTY ROOM STUDIOS HOSTS STEAMPUNK MUSHA CONTEST

March 29, 2007 (Mayesville, SC) – Empty Room Studios, provider of high quality illustration and writing services for the creative needs of both large and small publishing companies, is hosting a short story contest for Steampunk Musha. The original RPG was published by Politically Incorrect Games in 2006, and the setting is growing through RPG supplements, fiction, and comics. Now, creator Rick Hershey is inviting new and experienced authors to try their hands at fiction set in his world.

"I'm excited to see what fans do with the Steampunk Musha setting. Up 'til now all the ideas and stories have been from [cowriter] Alana [Abbott] and myself," said Hershey. "I'm curious to see what types of directions the setting can really go in."

There is no word count limit on the submitted short stories, but the pieces must be prose fiction, based on original content, and draw heavily on the flavor of the campaign setting. The grand prize will be $100 and a copy of the soft-cover Steampunk Musha RPG, signed with original art, and the winning story will be published on the Steampunk Musha website.

"It's a delight to open the doors to more writers," commented Abbott, co-author of Steampunk Musha RPG. "The setting has so much potential for fantasy fiction, noir and detective stories, and really pulpy stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with." The deadline for contest submissions is April 20, 2007. For more details, visit http://www.steampunkmusha.com.
