First Post
Later this week, Empty Room Studios Publishing, is proud to release the Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue under it's knowledge Check product line.

The Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue is a huge resource of medieval slang, curses, cants, etc. for use with any historical or fantasy type game. This resource is perfect for GM's wanting to add a little bit of local color to their game, thief characters (or any character really) with a desire for authenticity, or writers and game designers needing a great reference for an upcoming project.

Expect to see this 200 page product released later this week.

PreRelease

Any chance of seeing a page or two of what exactly you're publishing.
From the little blurb, it appears that this product will not have any stats and therefore "generic" enough to be used with any RPG - GURPS, d20/OGL, GSL, d20M and maybe even Star Wars or other Space Opera.
It also appears that this will be a PDF publication, as such what is the estimated price?
Again, with 200 pages, I'd like to see a few pages to get an idea of what type of product this will be. Will the be a "dictionary" in the vein of Merriam-Webster and Oxford, or more like American Dictionary of Colloquialism's - with a definition and a small paragraph describing a words use, historical (in this case real world, Fantasy, future and space). Will this include new terms as well as well known terms such as Choombata (from Cyberpunk terminology for "friend"), input/output (for girlfriend/boyfriend, again from Cyberpunk terminology)?
Several pages of preview would be most excellent to determine what level of use this could have.
I look forward to seeing what this product has to offer and how this might be used for those of us that have a fascination with dictionaries.

Be Well. Be Well Defined.

Thanks for the inquiry.

I'm wrapping up the layout this weekend, got behind due to some other projects needing my attention. I'll try and get a preview up this weekend.

The book will be entirely generic and systemless, no stats involved. The book is geared towards fantasy rpg's, but can used (ideally) to add a little flavor to any setting.

The pdf is 3 columned, and each word or phrase having an explanation of it's meaning, and in some cases examples of it's use in a sentence.

We haven't decided on price yet, but it will be less then $10, if that helps.

Anyways, I'll get a preview up as soon as I can. Thanks.

Will this be anything like [ame="http://www.amazon.com/DICTIONARY-VULGAR-TONGUE-Reference/dp/1848680627/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231580055&sr=8-6"]THE DICTIONARY OF THE VULGAR TONGUE[/ame] by Francis Grose? I did a search on Amazon not realizing your's was a PDF and found several listings for previous editions as well as the pending one for next month I've linked too. I'm just wondering if your book is just a variant of it; which there's nothing wrong with that as it has long since passed into public domain given the description on Amazon.
