Welcome one and all!

Its that time of year again. For the last two years Ambient Inc, now En Publishing has been releasing the free and comedic "Portable Hole" series of free pdfs. First was Portable Hole Full of Beer, then Son of Portable Hole, this year, Bride of Portable Hole: The Book of Neurotic Fantasy!

We'll be accepting Feats, Spells, Magic Items, Prestige Classes, and perhaps Advanced Classes for d20modern (no promises!), Artwork, everything.

All submissions must be original work and OGL complient.

All Text Submissions must be in by Friday the 13th of Feburary 2004. (0o0o spooky)

To make it easier for me to oganize the work please make your submissions under the following format.

All submissions should be in rtf format with a standard 12pt font.
Please put your contact info and full name IN the body of the submission, NOT the email.
The subject heading of the email should read:
Subject: Bride of Portable Hole Submission - Type of Submission
example: Bride of Portable Hole Submission - Feat
or Bride of Portable Hole Submission - Spell

Artwork: Artwork must be at least 300 dpi, and sent in B&W as well as colour, if you're sending color that is. Artwork is due on Feburary 29th.

The type of submissions we are looking for should focus on insanity, sex (a pg-13 sophmoric type) and the standard funny stuff as seen in previous versions.

If you have any questions post them here so Dextra from ENP can answer them.

Send all submissions to VongKiller18@aol.com. Please use the correct subject heading so I dont miss or lose your submission. Dont forget, rtf file with contact info IN the submission not the email.

One last thing, i'd like to try and have the filenames organized as well. If possible use the following format. Type - Name.rtf
Example: Feat - Insomnia.rtf
or Spell - One Minute Man.rtf

Thanks!

I have two dozen magic weapon writeups that are thematically linked. Would you want to see them as separate submissions, or lumped together with an introductory paragraph or two?

Thanks Arthur, and thank you all who have contributed previously!

Just a note for those thinking of contributing- we can't pay you (since this is a free product), but we will offer compensation for those whose work(s) are used in the upcoming Hole print compilation on a payscale relative to the amount of work used. It's not going to be a big money-maker, but golly, it'll be the best comedic product ever released for d20, dagnabbit!

I'll try to check in on this thread weekly, and am subscribing to it. As the deadline(s) approach, I'll be here more often.

WRT art, I'm going to need a cover. I'm thinking classic Bride of Frankenstein type stuff, but with an elf (or orc?) with the crazy hairdo. There must be an orc, some pie, and some beer in the image, somehow. Working in a Dread Gazebo reference is a definite plus. I don't want cartoony for this cover, I'm thinking something along the quality of what Richard Pace delivered for Son of a Portable Hole, or Jolyon Minn's Flaming Poodlemancer, painted look. Yeah, I know it's a lot to ask for for free, but I'm sure someone out there has the goods to deliver!

If you're thinking of submitting something, contact me before you put lots of time and effort into writing it up. We prefer an intelligent, dry humour, satirical style to outright puns, for example, and will not release any content that is not suitable for my kids to read (we're saving that for an X-rated book for later). Submissions must conform to the new d20 License, so mind yer Ps and Qs.

That said, and since you're the Art Director, can you post your email so any intrested artists can email you with questions for the cover or other submissions?

I'll also post a second open call specifically for the cover later.

Whats WRT mean?

Sadly ive received no submissions yet. But, i personally plan to write the next Orc and Pie adventure, but with a twist! (to honor Mystic Eye Games' The Deep) The Sea Orc and the Crab Pie!

The Open Call is now closed. Thanks for everyone who contributed. If you still want to make a submission past the deadline, please contact Hellhound or Dextra directly.
