Like some folks who frequent this piece of internet real estate, I've become familiar with certain names of people I'll call "EN World Iconics" for lack of a better word. I'm talking about those names who we've seen for some time, who generally seem to be respected and/or feared by the community, and whose opinion - to me, anyway - matters. I'm not saying I'd change my own opinion based upon theirs, but I am curious as to their thoughts. I think one of the best resources to mine is the Story Hour authors of those tales (largely 3e-based campaigns) that inspired droves of posts, discussion, and off-shoot campaigns. Some such tales even blossomed into publishing deals for the authors. These are the accomplished DMs, if you will, that spent time developing a campaign that was as interesting to their players as it was to the masses. Many DMs can likely run an interesting campaign for their friends (which, of course, is the most important aspect), but there are likely few who can command interest from the hallowed halls of the gaming community as a whole. So, I wonder, what will these authors be doing in light of 4e? I'm sure the below list could grow to monumental size, but I'm trying to keep it manageable at the moment. I'd like to start with some of the more popular story hours and work our way outward from there. If anyone has any idea whether these authors are moving on or not, please post. If you're one of the below authors and you know, please post. Again, merely curiosity here. *** List Lockdown on 6-17. Hell folks, not everyone can be an iconic, or they wouldn't be iconics. Yes, there are probably names on here that should be replaced, but I think this is a decent sample and I'm not in the mood to play a popularity game that may hurt folks' feelings.*** [b]The List Staying 3e Eric Noah JoeGKushner Shemeska Psion Going 4e Blackdirge Henry Merric Morrus Mouseferatu Orcus Piratecat Plane Sailing the Jester WizarDru Neither Crothian (Changeling) barsoomcore (True20) el-remmen (M:TG) OD&D Diaglo Recalcitrant/Undecided Rel Wulf Ratbane 3.5E/Traveler d20 Sepulchrave II Unknowns Destan - Believed to be going 4e.
