Enchanted Holy Symbols

Can I enchant a holy symbol to cast certain spells at will, like for example, Holy word or shield of law? If so, how much would it cost?

The cost would probably be (Spell Level x Caster Level x 2000)x2.

The part in parentheses is for the At-will casting of a spell, and the x2 is because it doesn't take up a space limitation. Of course, you have to tweak some prices simply because some spells are more useful than others.

If you wanted to avoid this possibility ... you could wear the holy symbol around your neck and then it would most likely take up the body slot for broaches, pendants, scarabs, periapts, etc. Depending on the spell you select, it might add 50% for not matching the appropriate affinity, however.

Adding to this idea... it really would depend on the deity in question. For instance, one deity's symbol may be a gloved hand (guantlet may serve as symbol); another may revere a weapon (like Thor, actual hammer may be the defacto holy symbol).

I tend to heavily tweak all clerics according to their deity(& domain) choices, so holy symbols could run the gamut, and could have a variety of appropriate enhancements added (depending on the 'flavor' of the deity. Inappropriate enhancments (subjective) would be disallowed, like a 'cold' deity's holy symbol having some flame-strike ability.

There are a whole bunch of rules for enhanced holy symbols in FFG's Path of Faith.

This is the simplest solution. Keep in mind that opponents might want to harm your holy symbol, as without it your spell casting is....limited. :)

On a similar, but vein, what would be the price for a 'tattoo' (perhaps in the middle of your palm, maybe double the price for one on the center of your forehead) that serves as a holy symbol.

Or would you even allow it?

I would only alow a tatoo in visible places (because often the holy symbol serves as the focus, thus it must be observed).

Additionally, I would only allow tatooes that could be removed or hidden. For example, perhaps letting erase remove the tatoo. Or, if it is a magical tatoo then perhaps it can be dispelled.

These aren't absolute requirements, just suggestions. In my opinion, the threat for the destruction of the holy symbol must be real in anything allowed if game balance is to be maintained. The clerics holy symbol isn't often sundered, but as Nail suggests above - the more ususual it is and the more adventageous it is to destroy it - the more likely it is to be destroyed. Thus, I would allow tatooes in visible places that are subject to destruction in one form or another.
