Energy Resistance- Spells to circumvent?

Has anyone found a source of spells that force a decrease or nullify a creatures natural energy resistances?

I have been unable to find any at all in D20 land with the exception of this months Dragon article, by Monte, that had a 5th level dragon magic spell that did so.

Don't know of any - you have to go the old way - blasting till it hurts (or using another type of energy).

<smart ass> Gee, you don't suppose an elementalist's benefits are in large part balanced by the various energy resistances, do you? </smart ass>

*ahem* Okay. If you're a wizard, I'd suggest asking your DM if you can research a new spell: Lower Elemental Resistance, or some such. Buy him a few drinks, try not to draw attention to the fact that you're working to nullify your most serious balancing weakness, and see what he says.

There are already several ways to increase the damage output caused. Thus, eventually surpassing energy resistance (presuming it isn't immunity).

This actually works better (number wise) than a spell/ability to reduce another creatures resistance. Because with a spell the creature has a chance to save as opposed to pumping up your own output which will be automatic.. it is just a matter of getting high enough to overcome the resistance.

but, to answer your question, no, i haven't seen any such spell. Sounds like a candidate for spell research though if you wanted

Follow the Monte

Monte Cook's Book of Eldritch Magic III: The Nexus has one spell in it that's very good for this sort of thing: Quintelemental Blast.

There are a few other spells in there that can help an elementalist. And it's a great book overall.

Actually all of the Books of Eldritch Magic are handy to Elementalists.

There's also induce vulnerability, which sounds like exactly what he wants - it either makes someone vulnerable to a chosen energy type (i.e. double damage) or removes existing resistance to that type.

Serves me right for posting before my caffeine intake for the morning. My Earth Elementalist has that spell in his spell book, and it is exactly what the poster wanted.
