I think, King_Stannis, and possibly SHARK, although not likely, because SHARK is wise beyond his years, that perhaps you have missed the whole point of Orc and Pie. Orc and Pie is not a joke, and so is not funny in and of itself. Now, I know you realize that, since you say that at the top. The bewildering thing is when you say that it's old and needs a rest, since that implies that once you thought it was funny. I know SHARK didn't think it was funny, ever, because that would imply rolling a critical failure on his wisdom check, and that could never happen to such a wise individual. Orc and Pie is an archetype for every role-playing game encounter ever played. Not to mention how well it fits real-life situations. Once more for the slow, Orc and Pie is not a joke. It's an archetype. The only people it could be amusing is for those that never realize that every role-playing adventure ultimately boils down to Orc and Pie. Without the Orc, that +2 keen, brilliant energy, vorpal scimitar really holds no value, because we truly only treasure what we earn for ourselves. Without the Pie, there's no reason to attempt to bring down the corrupt Duke and his necromancer ally. If you give Orc and Pie a rest, then you give up gaming. You take away either the motivation or the conflict. That's pretty boring.
