Since you asked not to, I shan't harp on the VOY acting, scripts, etc. I'd love to back you on your opinion of why folks didn't like the show but I really can't. I think it's fair to say at this point that I see shows as simple entertainment and as long as it's entertaining and engaging I'm there. Voyager was none of those things. Mind you, I haven't seen a ton of episodes. I did see a few good ones, but those were ones where usually the entire crew was wiped out and it ended up getting fixed by some time-thingy (ex. Year of Hell, the ep directed by LaVar Burton on the ice planet, etc.). This relates to Enterprise in the way that Voyager (along with the sub-par TNG flicks) nearly killed Trek for me. Enterprise is keeping me on board. Enterprise has characters that are interesting and are defined well in the show. I never felt that on Voyager. That show never really found its feet I thought. Mostly as evidenced by the fact that they relied way too much on Seven's character after she was introduced. I did agree with the choice, however because she was the best actor on there (I think she has great acting range). But it hurt everything that came before it. Additionally, there are other shows that did the concept (lost in space, far from home or just simple sci-fi) much better at the time it was on the air (Farscape, B5). Enterprise has little competition at the this point in sci-fi land. Farscape is almost dead. X-Files is dead. Firefly is dead. Dark Angel (which I didn't like anyway) is dead. Now is the time for Paramount to show folks what they can do. Their only real competition are the 2 remaining that Joss Whedon shows, Smallville and Alias, which have really little to do with the genre that Trek is in. That being said, the Trek franchise is still on shaky ground in my eyes. I don't know how well Enterprise is doing in the ratings and I have no idea how well Nemesis did but Enterprise has a big load to bear and I think they are doing an admirable job. I think they need to cut loose a bit more but I like the direction of the show. Now is the time. :)
