[QUOTE="DMEntropy, post: 1111904, member: 13270"] Surface Gnomes Gnomes are a race without a homeland. Despite the best efforts of their god, Greyl'k, the valley hey called home was over-run by Hobgoblins. Many Gnomes were taken as slaves. Many of the gnomes who were able to flee have settled in the kingdoms of other races. Others work to free their enslaved brothers from the hobgoblins. In spite of their hardship, gnomes remain playful and free-spirited. They are given to humor and trickery; in fact, it is their good spirits that has given them the strength to soldier on in the face of hardship. Appearance: Per the PHB. Relations: Gnomes have formed an active resistance movement within Ulruz. They will strike at Hobgoblin and Goblin military units in acts of sabotage and murder whenever they have the opportunity. Relations with elves and halflings tend to be quite good. Relations with other races are predicated upon the Gnome’s view of that race’s attitude towards their oppressors. If the race is friendly with the Hobgoblins and Goblins, Gnomes will take a dim view towards them. Religion: All Gnomes revere Grelyk as the father of their race. Other commonly worshipped deities are Urvon, Horun, Nylaethia, Suerl, and Syri. There is an active cult following dedicated to Lunakav in the Gnome community. Gnome Lands: Surface Gnomes have no lands of their own, though those who escaped the Ulruz conquest so long ago have spread across Aerde, and may now be found in small numbers in most Human cities, some other cities, and in small settlements wherever their feet have taken them. Languages: All Gnomes learn Tradespeak. Gnomes have retained their racial language that is kept as a closely guarded secret. The elves of Lorlynia maintain knowledge of this language from their historic contact with the gnomes prior to their conquest by Ulruz. Bonus languages are Draconic, Galvic, Forestal, Giantish, Thusesti and Orcish. Racial Abilities and Modifiers: Surface Gnome characters have all the racial traits listed in the Player's Handbook.
