ENWorld Gamer April Issue?

The print deal with Mongoose was cancelled after the second issue - there were a few posts about it in the ENpub forums a few months ago.

I'm not sure that they've announced anything since then.

From what I heard in the EN Publishing forum, they had completely finished issue #3, and were searching for some way to get it out there now that Mongoose had cancelled the print run.

What the heck happened between EN and Mongoose? All of the hype sounded very promising....

From the email I got about it (from Mongoose about the remainder of my subscription), and from what I heard over on the other forum, it simply wasn't profitable. That is to say, not enough people were buying it.

I find it odd that this was determined after only two issues. Maybe they took in the data from the four issues of the EN World Player's Journal, but I can't see why they would, since Mongoose didn't publish that (Goodman Games did).

One thing that I suspect - not enough game stores were preordering it. My NSFLGS (Not So Friendly Local Game Store) went so far as to say that it was not available through Alliance. (What he really meant is 'I don't feel like placing special orders this week'. Alliance had it.) Preorders can be what make or break a magazine, not just subscriptions.

While I would like to see it return as a subscription e-zine those are not notably successful either.

I hadn't thought of that. I know that my FLGS pre-ordered both of the ENWorld magazines for me. I've been using that store for almost 15 years now, and have been treated very well by them.

If you were a subscriber and weren't contact by Mongoose Publishing you should contact them.
I believe, though don't know for sure because I wasn't a subscriber, that the remainder of the subscription was being transferred into product credit.

The offer they made is they can either refund the remaining part of your subscription to you, or they offered to double the remaining amount in terms of product credit.

I chose the latter. ;)
