ENWorld v3.5 info, please?

Sciurus Rex

First Post
I can't find the original thread in which the moderators were outlining some of the minor changes we can expect later this year with the release of ENWorld version 3.5, so I apologize for possibly repeating old material.

Is it true that we'll no longer be allowed to discuss "broken" ranger rules? I, for one, would applaud such a change, and I don't know why the original ENWorld engineers didn't include that policy in the first version of this message board.

I also like the (hinted at) addition of "Hivemind" and "Pantheon" prestige classes for certain users, and Piratecat's idea for developing other sublevel prestige groups within this community. (Although I'm not sure that the "Hood" and its related Gangsta user IDs sounds like my cup o' tea, I'm willing to give it a chance.)

So when will the next "sneak" preview of ENWorld v3.5 be posted here?

As for the controversy posted elsewhere: I disagree that this is just a sneaky excuse to get us to have to reregister on the board, or to renew interest in sagging ENWorld activity. That's just pessimistic market paranoia speaking.

That will make out post counts obsolete!
Think about all the posts where we talk about the Hivemind or the Pantheon; now that there are specific prestige classes, they will be effectively invalidated.
And what about the smilies? If they change them as it's supposed, any post with a smilie in it could potentially become obsolete.
Finally, if we can't talk about the brokenness/shaftedness of rangers, then all the in-jokes about it will become impossible to understand for newcomers.

Note: even I don't know the meaning of what I wrote, so don't ask ok?

I'm pretty sure P-cat's "Clique" rules are not going to be see in EN World 3.5. They're originally intended to be part of the Malls and Morons hardcover coming out later this year.

Hi Rex! I just wanted to make sure you saw the press release...

Announcement Regarding 2003 Revisions to the EN WORLD D&D/D20 Fan Site

December 5, 2002

EN World, Inc. has some great news to share with loyal DUNGEONS & DRAGONS(r) and d20 System roleplaying game fans. Since the release of the latest edition of EN World in 2000, we have striven to listen to the reviews, accolades, criticism, and other comments that our fans have contributed about this site. The past two years have been filled with consumer feedback that has provided us with a wealth of information for making our boards more rich in depth and gameplay - in short, more opportunity for every fan to enjoy the site a little more.

After gathering this invaluable input from the fans and putting it together with our own observations, it was clear that some targeted revisions in the website would go a long way towards creating these requested improvements in the EN World roleplayer's gaming experience. Therefore, we have incorporated fan comments and suggestions into upcoming revised edition of EN World. While the overall system will remain intact, these targeted changes have been designed to help with character play, convey consistency, and improve overall game flow. These updated web pages will be on your computer screen July 2003, and we will be releasing more details in the months leading up to release. Please watch the EN World, Inc. website for more information.

We would like to thank our fans for giving us such reliable and valuable input, and we firmly believe that with your continued help and support, EN World, Inc. will continue to provide the foremost information about the foremost roleplaying game available.

Sincerely,

The EN World Team

Oh, and here's a tidibt sent in from Anonymous...

The original "Grandma's Rule" from the current edition of EN World will be given more prominence in ENW 3.5, AND it will be made "open source" so other D&D and D20 websites can use it! I'm ecstatic!

Thanks, Eric! That's exactly what I was looking for, too!
(Although, like others here, I have to say that I'm disappointed that you guys didn't get it 100 percent right the first time. Oh well...)

Hi, all! I just got back from the Moderators only forums, and have some other interesting tidbits about ENWorld 3.5....

1. Being able to beat Hong with a stick will no longer require the Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting feats.

2. Halfling Commoners will be given a +4 bonus to both hit and dmage against common house cats.

3. The Phrase "You Bastard!" will become licensed through ENWorld, requiring payment of USD $0.05 to Morrus every time that phrase is uttered in anger or in seriousness.

4. Half-Orcs, all Rangers, Monks, and Bards will receive free proficiency in all spears and polearms.

5. All [Hivemind] threads will receive top billing, including Multicolored neon graphics, and special sound effects.

6. Piratecat will recieve one hit point of damage for every hour his story hour has not been updated.

7. And finally, all moderators will be forced to wear pink-and-green polka-dotted clown suits while moderating. (I'm not sure about the reason behind this one, other than the fact that Morrus was snickering hysterically while relating it to us.)

Hope you've all enjoyed the updates!

-Henry, your pink-and-green polka-dotted Moderator

Just got the latest word from Morrus:

"ENworld's background will be changed to be a battlemat grid, and all icons and avatars will be changed to the appropriate scale - a special line of avatars based on the new D&D miniature series will also be debuted at GenCon".

Cheers!
