I only chose haste because haste is always a good Idea, the Idea wouldn't lose anything without haste. Magic Fang is only needed if you have to use your bare hands. You might still be capable to use a weapon with the claws (it isn't stated in the spell description either way, and the spell doesn't work like a werebear, but like the hybrid form of a werebear, if he had one. DM's call) So we're only down on one spell, which is Tenser's. The situation is a special one, but if you already have Tenser's Transformation in your spell reportoire, you are someone who likes to deal blows with the enemy sometimes. And then bite of the werebear is a real good addition to TT! You need the help of someone else to cast those spells on you, or you need to find a shape that gives you similar STR and CON scores (16 and 8 higher than your actual, so maybe 30 and 20!) and still enables you to use spells: Sure, you can use poly self to become a brown bear, but you can't cast TT afterward. And if you cast TT first, you can't cast spells anymore, too! With BotW you'll have a 25% failure with your TT, but it works. This only convers a +6 str enhancement. TT itself can grant me that (with a little Luck). But BotW gives me +16. And +8 con. And no penalty to dex. Also, you can't drink anything as long as you are under the effect of Iron Body, and you must dring a potion of strength when casting TT In fact, there's no other spell that grants me +16 STR and +8 CON and leaves me in the power to cast spells! As I said, only if the DM says you can't use a weapon with the pearpaws (and If you're into that tactic, you could possibly spare the money to make your magical weapon opposable. It's only +1 mpb and enables you to use it even if you have no thumb). If he does, just grab that magical weapon of yours (or borrow one from another party member) and hack away. Some wizards, sorcerers and druids like it to get into melee sometimes. If you don't, spells like bite of the werebear, iron body, tenser's transformation, and even stoneskin ain't for you! But if you like that, it doesn't matter if you could smash the enemy with damage spells or conjure mighty allies! And thanks for pointing me to wildshape or shapechange: the +16 STR, +2 DEX and +8 CON are enhancement bonuses. This means if you use bite of the Werebear and change into a, say, large earth elemental, you'll be a large earth elemental with STR 41, DEX 10 and CON 27. I like it when the other guy helps me to find arguments against his point of view! :D
