Epic Imprisonment Transmutation [Teleportation] Spellcraft DC: 78 Components: V, S, XP Casting Time: 1 action Range: 300 ft. Target: One creature Duration: Permanent Saving Throw: Fortitude negates Spell Resistance: Yes To Develop: 702,000 gp; 15 days; 28,080 XP. Seeds: transform (DC 21), transport (DC 27). Factors: genesis effect (ad hoc +110 DC), 1-action casting time (+20 DC). Mitigating factor: burn 10,000 XP (-100 DC). You transform the subject into a non-descript rock of Diminutive size permanently, instantaneously create a prison demiplane, and instantaneously transport the subject into it. The creation of the prison demiplane is an effect similar to the genesis spell (Epic Level Handbook, p. 117; a small demiplane is immediately created, growing to its full size over a period of days; should the transformation of the subject fail to occur for whatever reason, the remainder of the spell effect does not occur, as there would likely be no room for the subject of the spell even if it could be transported against its will). Unlike the typical application of the genesis spell, the prison demiplane created by this spell has no entrance or exit portal and cannot be shaped by its creator in any way (although casting genesis can still increase the prison demiplane's area normally, usually there's little point); it always has barren, rocky terrain that slowly shifts and flows at random. Over this bleak landscape is a dull grey sky that emits light equivalent to a very overcast day on the Material Plane. The transformed creature is located in a random location beneath the surface of ground in this demiplane--always at least one foot below the surface, so that such simple detections as detect magic cannot be used to locate the transformed subject by the aura of transmutation magic it radiates. Rescuing a creature from the effects of this spell is difficult. Even determining the fate of the subject is is abnormally difficult; divination magic, even a discern location spell, merely reveals that the target is somewhere beneath the ground in a prison demiplane (without revealing where the demiplane's entrance lies). The only way to enter the demiplane created by this spell is to cast plane shift in the exact location where the target was when it was subjected to this spell; for this reason, spellcasters who use this spell sometimes create dead magic areas or other forms of antimagic in the area and/or use traps, wards, and guardians to keep would-be rescuers away. A wish or miracle can determine the demiplane's entrance location with certainty, and commune, contact other plane, legend lore, and vision may be able to provide clues, provided that a wish or other measures were not taken to foil divinations on the matter (Epic Level Handbook p. 115). The freedom spell has no effect on this spell. This spell can only be cast on an Ethereal Plane, or planes that have a coexistent Ethereal Plane. XP Cost: 10,000 XP.
