Epic Level Question

I'm quite sure about the answer of the following question but I wanted to check here if I was correct.

Non-epic prestige classes taken at epic level don't give bonus feats, do they?

Only what they would give at non-epic levels.

(Unless you advance into their epic levels, of course - e.g., 11+ for the DMG 3.0 classes.)

You'd want to check the epic level handbook for you class. There are only certain feats the prestige classes can choose from for their bonus epic level feat.

I think with the minimum pre-reqs a Blackguard may be(according to the epic progression) an epic bonus feat at something like 19 or 20.( I can't remember the pre-requisites for Blackguard.

I don't know if I answered your question or not.

Right. Most prestige classes(epic) get a bonus feat after 11th level of their prestige class, which in the epic level HB states that it can be an epic feat.

Let's say you're a 20th-level Rogue, and you take a level of Assassin. You're asking this: Do you use the normal Assassin progression in the DMG, or do you use the Epic Assassin progression in the ELH?

Simple: You use the chart for whatever level of Assassin you're taking.

If it's your first level of Assassin, then you look in whichever book has the first level of Assassin- that is, the DMG. You can take Assassin from the DMG until its levels end- that is, 10th-level- then you switch to the ELH for levels 11+ (since those are the only levels covered in the ELH).

In other words, you are correct.

I think you're missing something. No matter when you finish the 10th-level of Blackguard, even if you finish it at 19th level, you can't take an Epic feat before your character level is lower than 20th. In fact, you can't even use the Epic progression for a Prestige Class until your character level is at least 20th. So, even if you start taking Shadowdancer at 6th level and finish it at 15th, you can't take Epic Shadowdancer until you've taken 5 more levels of something else.
