Essential Healing

The following are taken from the Judeochristian writings (Torah/Old Testement) and give a number of examples of healing. I hope they don't cross the line as the intent is illustrative rather than preachy

I'll start with this quote from Psalms 107 as it gives a good insihgt into the hbrew view of disease (caused by sin) and Healing (from GOD)

Fools are afflicted because of their transgression and iniquities. Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble and He saves them out of their distresses. He sent forth His Word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave. Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

This is interest as it shows both an attempt at spiritual healing and a curse

Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria and was sick. He sent messengers and said, "Go enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease. But the angel of the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, "Go up and meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and ask them, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going off to consult Baal-Zebub the god of Ekron?' Therefore this is what the Lord says, 'You will not leave the bed you are lying on. You will certainly die.'"

An example of 'miraculous healing' by immersion in water

So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself 7 times, as the prophet (Elisha) had told him to, and his flesh became as healthy as a little child's, and he was healed.

and a use of medicinal poultices

Then Isaiah said, "Prepare a poultice of figs." The did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.

and a use of healing prayer

Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, "The good Lord pardon every one that prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary, and the Lord hearkened to Hezekiah and healed the people.

Finally Proverbs 17:22 shows a insight into mental health

A merry heart does good like medicine. A broken spirit dries the bones.

This is why I like the Vitality Point / Wound Point system(s)... same basic idea, just a different label for morale (vitality).
