Also I find DDI is not all that casual reading friendly, so if you like to read the books as entertainment (as opposed to just wanting the information to build a character or play) than you might miss that.</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'">So my vote would be get DDI and the DM's kit. Some of the location books for 4e are also pretty good (e.g., underdark).</span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'">NOTE: somewhat big caveat if you are keen on essentials.
