Essentials Druid Excerpt Up- Primal Leader

I was rather fond of the 1e Druid. It wasn't a balanced class by a long shot, but it had it's apeal. With some other bits of Essentials being really retro, I suppose I was vaguely hoping the E-Druid would be more like the 1e. I guess the 4e Druid already had as much shape-changing as they were willing to deal with, and 'controller' really fit th 1e Druid better than leader, anyway. The 'Animal Companion' thing is strictly 3.5, and it's about all there is in the preview. (In 1e, there was an 'Animal Friendship' /spell/ that you could use to collect quite the little menagerie - or to befriend and 'train' a single rather tough animal, if you could find one - but it wasn't exactly a halmark of the class, just something you could exploit if you even noticed it.)

I'll disagree about the 1e druid--everyone I saw used Animal Friendship.

It looks like a leader/striker to me. Should be interesting!
