I don't think Jack knows anything about Beverly's little sideline. And in the future timeline she only stated that she didn't work for the Consortium anymore. That doesn't preclude her working for somebody else. Why else would she have been hypnotizing Fargo to learn about what happened in the alternate timeline?DanMcS said:He knows about the psychologist being evil, right? At least, it seemed like that had been resolved in the "future". If he does, I wonder if there's anything stopping him from just arresting her in episode #201. That would be entertaining. Or maybe the consortium isn't as evil as we've been led to think; we've never seen them do anything beyond a bit of corporate espionage, right? And what was that bit with the visiphone at the end of the episode? The consortium guy hung up on her, and the logo on his screen was for General Dynamics, which is the company right there in Eureka, I thought. So she's working for someone who's already inside the company she's spying on? Hopefully that will become more clear.
The logo on the phone was for Cisco Systems, which is a real company. But I suspect that it wasn't just product placement. I think you're right that there's an insider who's really behind the Consortium.
I thought the episode was a little rushed. I would have liked to see a bit more development of Jack's feelings about giving up his idyllic future, and maybe some glimpses into how he ended up with Alison and why Nathan Stark left Global Dynamics.
I hope they develop that more in the second season. There's a lot of room for some good interaction between Jack and Henry, too, since presumably both of them can remember living 4 years into the future. Jack and Henry have been pretty good buddies up to now, but will Henry be able to forgive Jack for stopping him? Or will we not get to find out because the actor is leaving and Henry won't be in the next season? That would suck.
