Evaluate this template:Ghoul!

Okay I have plans for this template...but I want to know IF it needs reworking or not. Here's the template in question: Ghoul and Ghast Template

Do I look like Duncan? No, I'm not Duncan, Crothy. My name DOES appear in the dedication for Serpent in the Fold and soon in the Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers.

What I REALLY want to know is should the Ghoul/Ghast get extra HD, do they NEED a +6 for Cha and other ability score increases? What about the +1 CR, for a Ghoul?

The extra HD part is odd, I know of no other template that does that. All undead seem to get a cha boost since they loose con and use cha instead of it. The CR system is not freindly towards knowing what is good or not without trying it in actual game play. +1 might be a little low, but then it is not as good as many +2 templates. But I'm sure I can find some +2 templates that are weaker then it. Templates are not the most balanced things in any of the books IMO.

no, it doesn't - but it still works...

it looks like Monte just compared the differences between a Ghoul (and a Ghast) to a level 1 human commoner and recorded those numbers

(a level 1 human commoner would have 1 hit die, the ghoul has 2, so the template says. "+1 HD"

the base stat for a level 1 human commoner is 10 (or 11), the ghoul's Cha is 16, so the template says, "+6 Cha"

...and so on)
