At the time it happened ,I tried to walk away gracefully becuase the DM made it clear he was speaking on behalf of the whole group. It wasn't until I started calling around to the other players to offer my apologies for my behavior that I started to hear that they had no problem with me and that they were as blindsided by the move as me.I have to admit, I should have left the group some time earlier. The DM was insiting on playing late into the night and starting at 1:00PM. Now back in college this would have been fine. But I have a full time job, a house, a wife and child now. I cannot commit that much of my time every week to gaming. Add in that my job gets me up at 4:30AM to go in each day, and even on the weekends I start to flag at about 11~12 these days. By 1:00AM I would be half asleep, not becuase I had no interest in the game, but because I was exhausted. I'm sure that didn't help his feelings torwards me. The DM himself admited he had a personal problem with me. It didn't matter what I did, he was always felt very competitive towards me. What really brought things home to me was when his wife told mine that the DM had always had a strained relationship with me. I always thought of him as one of my best friends. That right there really told me that our opinions of each other were totally out of whack, and that his booting me was for the best. I currently have a group of four folks playing in my AE campaign and so far we've been having a blast.
