Kevin's lips are moving but they aren't making any sounds. All Ira has ears for as he's led back through the party is the hammering of the hearts of his guests. Kevin lets Ira stumble into his bedroom before closing the door between them. "You got the E?" comes a voice from outside Ira's vision. It's hard to hear her over the thumping of music from outside, over the thumping of the blood in her veins. "H-hurts..." he spits, collapsing to the floor. "Ira, what did you take?" The woman in the skimpy police outfit crouches beside him, hands on his back. "Ira?" Ira's eyes lock onto his wristwatch. It was his father's gift to him for his 25th birthday, and one of the last things he has to remember the old man by. And it's burning him. He grabs the watch and tugs with a roar, the band snapping and pins and plates tumbling to the ground. "Ira!" the woman shrieks at him. "Ira! Are you OK?" He gets to his hands and knees. "Yes," he growls as his fangs extend for the first time. He's on her in an instant, mouth buried in her neck. Her plaintive cries turn to moans and in moments she's got her hands in his hair. She shudders in his arms as blood leaves her body, her attacker showing no sign of stopping... ... until there's a noise from across the room. His victim's friend, the beautiful naif from earlier, is stepping out from the master bathroom. Ira releases his current meal and she drops like a sack of bricks to the floor behind the bed. His new target looks back at him as he stares at her. The woman is gone, a terrified girl all that remains. "Where's Stacy?" she asks, nervous. Can't she tell something's wrong? Can't she see the blood on his face? "Come here," Ira says. His victim sweeps across the room to him as if dragged by the neck, arriving in Ira's waiting arms to take the place of her friend. A few minutes later Eliot is let in to the room. Ira has washed his face and changed his shirt. "Get them in a cab." Ira steps back to reveal the two women in a heap on the floor, their breathing labored, skin pale. "They've had too much to drink." He fans out some bills, eventually discarding a couple hundred dollars worth with a dismissive toss to the floor. It's not obvious whether the money is for the women or the security officer and Ira doesn't bother to clarify. "Beat it," he says aside to Kevin as he passes him at the door. Ira Armstrong doesn't know what the future has in store for him but he knows that tonight is the first night of the rest of his life.
