Meanwhile… Cynis Veran scowls at the corpses behind the tea house. He looks at Talon-Captain Allain Dais, “This is the price these men pay for your incompetence.” Dais scowls, “Three soldiers killed without anyone noticing, I hardly blame that on my incompetence.” He kneels down and checks the corpses, they lie in pools of blood, from puncture injuries from arrows but the arrows are nowhere to be seen. Veran grunts, “You were distracted by that upscale whore, you let a pretty face delay you from our sacred mission. These men died for nothing, their blood is on your hands.” “Well when you put it that way,” Dais replies bitterly, “These men died from arrows, there deaths were quick, I suspect they all died at once… so either they were ambushed by several skilled archers or…” “Or?” “The Anathema were close by and we just missed them,” Dais answers, “but why attack these men and then leave the corpses in plain daylight. It does not make sense, why draw attention to themselves… it does not add up.” “They are demons, do they have to make sense?” Veran replies in an agitated tone. “That is the simple answer, perhaps. But something is out of place here,” he stands, “something does not fit… I will figure it out.” Above the Disciple smiles. He looks at the black rose with a whimsical smile and then dashes to another rooftop it was time to find a few answers to his own questions…
