I am building a character for a new campaign starting. I plan on the character having the vow of non-violence and the vow of peace.
Both of these require that you do not cause harm or pain to a humanoid or living being. However in the very next line, they both say "you may dea not deal damage to such craetures with weapons but you may deal non-lethal damage.
Reading this, I assumed that a character dealing non-lethal daamge is not hurting his opponent but only trying to exaust or subdue him? Else it seems pointless to follow the first statement up with the statement saying you're able to deal non lethal damage to such creatures. Am I right?
REading the latest dragon magazine, it says something to the effect of the opposite that regardless the character could not harm another.
I guess the only; way to figure out which view is raw, is to figure out what exactly does non-lethal damage do? Can you deal non-lethal damage without hurting your opponent or harming them?
