What do you think? I was thinking of making another feat that added a intelligence bonus to the attack role.


Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Ballista)

The fishermen of Whale Bone Island are skilled with the use of ballista.

Benefit: When using a ballista you may add your BAB to your attack roll.

Normal: Ballista attacks are straight attack rolls modified only by range.

Weren't ballista operated by teams though?

I'm not saying the feat is bad, just that maybe there should be less benefit when only one person has the feat, or that the feat should stack with other's of its type. Let's say it takes three people to operate a particular seige engine.

1 person with the feat means that person adds his/her BAB to the attack roll.
2 people with the feat means that they gain the befefits mentioned above, plus they add their attack bonus to the damage roll.
3 people with the feat means that they gain the befefits mentioned above, plus the weapon takes less time to re-load.

Just some food for thought.
 

Another option might be to treat it as a skill.

Upon firing, make a skill roll versus a range dependent DC, on a success add BAB to the attack roll.

Siege engine fire should be rare enough that the extra die roll won't slow things down--and it should help reflect the unpredictable nature of this type of attack.
