From Joe Browning's blog:
The APG, written primarily by Ari Marmell, brings into Fourth Edition a lot of the options that haven't appeared yet, including variations of the bard, monk, barbarian, and druid classes. These versions of these classes are intended to feel, at least in part, like those of older editions, making campaign conversion easy--and to work with, rather than compete against, versions of these classes that Wizards of the Coast may produce in the future. The APG includes racial options, paragon paths, feats, rituals, and optional rules systems as well.
The Advanced Player's Guide will be available in both softcover book and PDF formats.
Thought everyone would be interested to know that we've executed a contract with the esteemed Mr. Marmell and we'll be bringing the Advanced Player's Guide to print. We're aiming for an October release. Ari's familiarity and experience with the rules system, along with his clean and evocative style will be an asset for anyone playing 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. We'd always wanted to work with Ari before, but the opportunity had never arisen, so we're excited to finally see an idea to fruition.
