I am prepping to run this as well, and straight through to "To Save a Kingdom". My game starts in a few weeks. I cannot describe how it goes, but here are some of my plans. Cylock - I love your ideas for the crazy doctor! Consider your ideas stolen, and thank you. I have also flushed out the Goblin's retrieval. Another somewhat risky thing I am doing is when they first "awaken" after the death of the Khalkos they will be in just robes with daggers like a cultist. Each of them will start with 1 damage, 1 level of fatigue, and 1 level of strife. There will be a few other cultists with them who will be confused and attacking everything (also damaged/fatigued/strife). Orfrain is there and will pretend to just awaken, and will side with the party (deems them the likely victors). His picture will also be on the wanted list, and he will be a companion throughout the escape from town. I enjoy having that previous interaction before they later find him in the depths of Barrowdeep. They will likely have discovered his role either through the recovery of memories and/or when word gets to Brand and he asks them about the "cultist incidents" and Orfrain in particular. Tariq will also have asked about him during that encounter on the journey in Act 2. The player's gear is in room 4 of the catacombs. Of course, I plan to have them find a 1-2 (depending on how the first fight goes) giant centipedes in room 2. Whoever pilots the wagon in the Escape from town will gain Ace Driver feat for free if successful. One planned encounter on the journey is 2-3 Jackalwere "bandits" trying to trick them by pretending to need help and then trying to rob them. I plan to have players find Gauntlets of Summer in the catacombs so one of them can affect them fully. Granny Appleseed - Gather ingredients, and gives them the buff if successful. Edited to be 10 temp HP and +2 vs poison. After the ingredients, she asked the group to recover something from her sister who "went bad". This is the level 1 short dungeon from the Dungeon Delver's Guide called Rotten Underbelly. Her sister is Goratrix Vel. Players will find a red dragon scale among her belongings foreshadowing the involvement of the Red Dragon Cirothe. The refuse pile in area 3 will also have a Rust Monster. It makes earning the buff more meaningful. Other planned things are just some more involvement with NPCs from Holdenshire that play roles in "To Save a Kingdom", at least in the old version I have. Reg Bakerman and Penner will be in the pie-eating contest, Nazid is the top contestant in the Cabernet Toss, etc.
