Well, it was clarified in a Sage Reply to work as Boots of Speed, but it never made it into the FAQ, which is odd, and the errata for Defenders of the Faith hasn't been released yet. I don't know how many people use that clarification besides myself.

Lucky bastards. IOC, I couldn't even buy masterwork thieves tools (and that was when the others already had masterwork, or even magic IIRC, weapons).

I'd rather think of you and your group as the unlucky ones, as opposed to other gamers being lucky. Faerun isn't a world completely covered in the projects in my games.

Well, I'll soon change my character in that game: a frenzied berserker with CHA as his lowest stat and no cha-based skills whatsoever (not even intimidate). He wields a mercurial greatsword. Let's see who can abuse bad DM rulings best (and the very best is that I can't quit the frenzy when I like and fly into it when I get hit - so it might just happen that another PC falls to my sword. Not unlikely, should I score a crit: 8d8 + 80 should fell most 7th-level characters.)

Mercurial Greatsword has been changed to 2d6 in the S&F Errata.. ..not that 8d6+80 are much less...

Well, I'll survive it. My enemies might not.

It's more logical now (Mercurial Longsword, too), and I won't have to seek all my d8 (and I only have 7, so I had to borrow one, or, far worse, must make the roll in two go's). And d6 come in those practical big packs with 36 dice in it.

No need to hush. You could yell it across the plaza - this DM of mine doesn't visit those boards I think - and the other's don't, too (except one, but only if I shove him )

And it could well be that he doesn't even know the weapon. But I intend to use it - especially because it costs 600 gp. And he only gave me one masterwork weapon or armor, 200gp, FR starting package and standard stuff (bedroll, torches....) as starting equipment. Tha Char will be 6th or 7th level.
