Extra Spell and Favored Soul

Can I use the Extra Spell feat to learn Holy Smite (normally only available in the Good domain) for my Favored Soul? Personally, I would think I could just select it but rules is rules.

Rules is in fact rules. And Extra Spell only lets you learn a spell that's already on your class spell list.

That said, it doesn't strike me as unreasonable to let favored souls take spells from their deity's domains this way.

While I certainly agree with this, the rules as written (for the feat) do not in any way state that you can only learn a spell that is already on your class spell list.
