Extra Spell: Choose from any list?

Something's come up in another thread, wherein Nifft suggested that the Extra Spell feat (from Complete Arcane) lets you choose a new known spell from any spell list (ie a sorcerer could learn Cure Light Wounds with this feat).

He mentioned that the feat is modeled after a Psionic feat that lets you pick a new power from any power list (I'm not familiar with Psionics).

Anyone have a definitive word on this?

Nothing definitive that I can find; there doesn't seem to be anything in the FAQ, errata, or website. The feat's terminology is sufficiently ambiguous. My interpretation would be that the feat not explicitly stating "you may not choose from any spell list besides your own" is NOT sufficient reason to say that you can then do exactly that.

He is, however, definately wrong about it being modeled after that psionic feat. Extra Spell was first published in Tome & Blood, which was released before the Psionics Handbook came out.
