Fable Cut Scenes

Sado

First Post
Aaaaargh!! Do they ever end? I played it for about 2 hours, and it seems like half that time I was watching the game instead of playing it.

It would be different if it were advancing the story somehow.

... How do the cutscenes not advance the story? I know the main quest is a little slow at first, but just after the arena quest, things pick up. You'll see.

I'll stick with it, of course. I've been waiting too long for this game not to. It does seem to be very linear so far (I just finished the arena bit where I fought Whisper).

Slight spoiler alert

That first scene where you get rescued from your village was a killer. From Maze taking you to the guild to your meeting with the head guild guy to meeting Whisper for the first time, my god that must have been 15 minutes of cut scenes right there.

How are people finding this game so far? I've been really interested in it but haven't played it yet. My one friend says he can't stop playing it, but while visiting www.penny-arcade.com this morning I saw Gabe giving it a rather poor review, claiming it is rather linear and confining while featuring long load times. I had originally wondered if this was going to be the game to replace Morrowind for me (not that I want a game to replace Morrowind ;) ) but now I'm not sure. I'll probably borrow it from my friend to see if I like it before I buy it, but what does everyone else think?

If anything, it reminds me more of Zelda than morrowind. There's a fairly linear plot you can follow, but there's also a bunch of side stuff you can do (like getting the heart containers and finding the fairies in zelda). The really cool thing is your character changes dynamically, getting fatter or thinner, scars, tatoos, haircuts, you can get married, rent houses. And oh yeah, you can be evil. Other than that, it's fun the graphics are pretty decent, and since I thought Ocarina of Time was a great game, I'm happy with fable. It's definitely a different animal than morrowind though. Also, although it's very possible to be evil, in my opinion, no game has ever made evil/good as equally rewarding as KotOR.

Cool, thanks for the info. And although I've never played Fable, I'd have to agree with your point about KoToR. I've still got to go back to that game and play it through as dark side.
:]
