It seems I never posted our session zero. It ended up taking two sessions (2025-11-08 and 2025-12-13) due to the time needed to go over the rules (twice because we had our other player join us for part 2), but we were able to get through setting creation. We created a number of different places on Terra, which is a sub-region of the world, but travel away from it is impossible due to unknown reasons. Soul energy is the source of all life. It is recycled at death. Magic is an everyday thing, but it’s not mastered. There are still opportunities for discovery. Technology is limited. A train prototype is about as sophisticated as it gets. Higher technology once existed, but it can now only be found in ruins of the Ancients.

The Amity Protectorate, an absolute monarchy with a militaristic orientation.
Dunova, a republic of pirate sand thieves off the coast of the Federated Republics (and formerly of them but left).
The Federated Republics, a group of city-states that had warred with each other but were eventually united
The Holy City of Barnum, a religious city-state that opted not to join the Federated Republics. It is the center of the Barnumite religion, which worships Terra’s moons (Mote and Luna).
The Island of Mao, the home of the cat people. No outsiders are allowed, but cat people born on foreign land may return.
Prospect, a port city on the coast of a mountainous continent where it’s said the City of Gold can be found.
The Majestic Republic of Latimo, a merchant republic lead by a leader elected from its merchant houses.
The Neutral Territories, an area of land between the Federated Republics and the Amity Protectorate.
Rygal, a kingdom that is split into North Rygal and South Rygal due to a succession crisis.
Historical Events:

The Amity Republic and the Federated Republics fought a war that was going to get very hot, but the Unknown Forces intervened and shut down the area between them. This area is now kind of a dead area controlled by them. It is unknown what is happening there because outsiders are forbidden access.
Ancients lived on (or, rather, in the area of) Terra long ago. They had very advanced technology, but then they destroyed.
An old religion predates Latimo. It was overthrown, and all traces were purportedly destroyed.
A cataclysm struck the area between the Amity Protectorate, the Majestic Republic of Latimo, and the Island of Mao. The land was sunk into the sea. Ever since then, no one was been able to leave Terra. Those who try disappear.
Enigmas and Mysteries:

How did Ancient technology work?
What killed the Ancients?
Who is the Unknown Force?
Where is the City of Gold?
Threats:

There is an impending war between the Rygal factions that could spill over into the Amity Protectorate and possibly ignite a world war.
Undead have increased in the Federated Republics. A vampire is suspected as the leader.
The wind is not as windy as it used to be. Travel (particularly by sail) takes longer. This is a concern to Latimo.
A heretical faction of Barnumites believe the world is out of balance, and the only way to restore balance is another cataclysm. They want to crash Mote into Terra on the other side of the inner sea (east of the Island of Mao and north of Prospect).
We have a map. I’m working on creating it in RPG Maker MV. I will post it once it gets to a nice state. After we did setting creation, we did group creation. The players decided they wanted to be Seekers sent on a mission by the Majestic Republic of Latimo to find Ancient technology that can control the wind. These are the PCs that were created:

Lorenzo (loremaster 3/elementalist 2), a magical archaeologist. He theorizes that we have the ability to more fully understand Ancient technology, but people are superstitious about doing so. He is the one who convinced Latimo to send an expedition looking for a technological solution to the wind problem.
Gan Teflan (guardian 3/spiritist 2), Lorenzo’s elven bodyguard. Lorenzo helped Gan’s family in the past. Now he feels a duty to protect Lorenzo.
Bez (chimerist 3/orator 2), a haughty scion of a lost bloodline. His family once ruled the Amity Protectorate. He wants to return them to power.
We only had about 45m or so for a prologue today. I’ve posted the details of the prologue in the 5-words thread as post #334.
