D&D 5E Faction & alignment for an illusionist gnome

I've been playing a PC with a general idea of the personality and I'm now thinking of re-building that. The deep gnome (svirfneblin) illusionist (wizard) had no deity, has neutral alignment and is in faction Emerald Enclave who I relate to militant environmentalists; a faction is related to (Adventurer's League) but one doesn't need to know the details and can think of it like being in a fraternal organization which is often an important facet of personality IRL. I'm pretty set on the deity which is good-aligned but the faction is the row below neutral-aligned (LN, N, CN) which is making me question my inclinations. There are no restrictions about me not following the deity or faction guidelines, I prefer to have a consistent character. In addition to the alignment conflict, Baravar Cloakshadow | Forgotten Realms Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia mention
His dogma primarily concerned the protection of the gnome race through the art of illusion.
(highlight by me) and Emerald Enclave | Forgotten Realms Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia mention
Control human expansion
making me wonder if by human they meant humanoid, or it it was truly the former as they're the most populous. Even if I make those inclinations my choices, I'd like to have some reasoning of those apparent conflicts. Thank you kindly for your help

Human may mean that humans are the general race of expansionists, like how elves or dwarves may view them. Over the last 1000 years, the humans have spread all across the land.

Being a deep gmome, you could play him more as a fish out of water story where he does not know how to act on the surface since he grew up in the more harsh underdark and may change his world views as he grows in experience.
