The standard fantasy novel (well, before the "gaming fiction" era of the 90s at least) is a place where magic is <em>relatively</em> rare and places far away are mysterious, hard to reach and news travels slowly. </p><p></p><p>With this mechanic, that aspect to a standard fantasy setting is once again "believable".</p></blockquote><p></p>
